Now that the intense season of lambing is over, it’s time to
clean up and move on to the next order of business.
The little jug pens have been dismantled so the newly
increased barn population has room to lounge.
Vet Box Supplies |
The vet box has been cleaned out and put away until
castration time comes.
…and the mountain of lambing towels have been washed one
final time before being folded and put away for another season. The towels are
used for cleaning and massaging the newborns to help dry their wet wool and stimulate
their internal organs. I have a stack of old towels specifically for this use that are washed and bleached to use with each birth.
With each washing of the lambing towels, the realization
struck me…
Once again, I find myself in what may be a unique position... I mean...
Just how many folks need to VACUUM their washer and dryer on a daily basis...
...to clean out all the HAY?!
I never thought to vacuum it! That's a great idea! Our gets sawdust build up because our turkey bedding is sawdust. :)
ReplyDeleteI have to give credit to my husband for thinking of vacuuming!
DeleteI had never given much thought to how much sawdust bedding would bog down in the laundry. My son-in-law grew up on a turkey farm, and we've learned a lot about turkeys from him, but I'm guessing he doesn't have any laundry tips. lol
Yeah I never thought of vacuuming it either.. we get straw from the straw bale house we are building.. I also get the kids to shake everything out outside first. That helps but there is still A LOT sometimes.
